Unfortunately, the Men's Alpine Skiing World Cup events scheduled for this weekend in the prestigious resort of Kitzbühel (Austria) were officially canceled on Wednesday after the discovery of 17 cases of Covid-19.
A cluster that could be linked to the English variant of the virus has in fact been spotted 9 km from the Austrian station.
“For security reasons, we don't want these Wengen races to take place in Kitzbühel this weekend,” said Günther Platter, the governor of the region.
While the resort of Wengen (Switzerland) could not organize its Alpine Skiing World Cup this weekend because of the Covid-19, two races out of three had been resumed by the prestigious resort of Kitzbühel (Austria).

The legendary Austrian men's World Cup stage had indeed turned its own program upside down to resume two of the planned races (the slalom and a downhill).
Kitzbühel was also due to organize a downhill, super-G and slalom next week.
Finally, the famous and impressive track of the Streif will not host any event this weekend and the doubt remains for next week.
The Ski World Cup thus sees a third stage of its season canceled due to the pandemic, after the women's competitions in Yanqing (China), on the site of the 2022 Winter Olympics, and Wengen.
After seeing the end of last season amputated by the Covid-19, world alpine skiing has adjusted its calendar this season and organizes its races behind closed doors.
Note that the French Alexis Pinturault is at the top of the general classification, 129 points ahead of the Norwegian defending champion Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
