After the storm on the US Capitol in Washington, the identification of those involved is still in full swing.

According to media reports, the US swimmer and Olympic champion Klete Keller was also identified as one of the participants.

In 2004 and 2008, Keller won the gold medal in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay together with the record Olympic champion Michael Phelps.

He also won bronze over 400 meters in 2000 and 2004.

He also apparently came a long way when he stormed the Capitol: According to the New York Times and the specialist portal SwimSwam, video recordings show that Keller is walking around the rotunda of the Capitol in a jacket from the Olympic team.

Accordingly, the 38-year-old was identified by a number of people from swimming and reported to the authorities.

According to the New York Times, several of these people were not surprised by Keller's participation in the violent uprising.

The swimmer has repeatedly shown himself to be a great Trump supporter on social media.

In the meantime, his accounts can no longer be found.

The New York Times reported that none of the recordings showed that Keller was involved in acts of violence.

However, his mere participation in the angry crowd infiltrating Parliament could result in persecution by the US judiciary.

Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Wednesday last week when a session of Congress was held there to formally confirm Joe Biden's victory in the November presidential election.

A Trump supporter was shot dead by police in the Capitol, and an officer died the day after from injuries sustained in the confrontations.

Three other people died as a result of medical emergencies during the riot.

The US federal prosecutor's office expects hundreds of criminal cases for storming the Capitol.

More than 170 suspects have already been identified and 70 of them formally accused, said prosecutor Michael Sherwin in Washington on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Aaron Mostofsky, the son of a New York judge, was also arrested on Tuesday for the riot.

Among other things, he is charged with theft of state property and illegal access to a public building.
