Athletic Bilbao qualified for the final of the Spanish Super Cup after beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the match that brought them together today in the semi-finals of the competition.
Bilbao owes the victory to its star, Raul Garcia, who scored the two goals of the Basque team in the 18th and 38th minutes, while Real Madrid scored the only goal of French Karim Benzema in the 73rd minute of the match.
With this victory, Athletic Bilbao will face Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final scheduled for next Sunday.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona booked the first final card yesterday, Wednesday, by beating Real Sociedad with a penalty shootout 3-2 after the end of the original and additional time with a 1-1 draw for each team.
