After being crowned player of the year in Belgium and winning the local golden shoe award, Lior Rapalov declares: I have no intention of returning to Israel.

The 34-year-old Antwerp midfielder, who has become one of the most beloved and esteemed foreigners in Belgium after eight years at Club Brugge and his current club, was interviewed after winning the award and provided some interesting statements.

"I want to play two or three years ago, that's my ambition," he said.

"When the passion is lost, you realize that the end is near, but I'm not there yet. Journalists in Israel are already stopping to ask me if I will return to Maccabi Haifa, the team I grew up with. To be honest, I prefer to stay in Belgium. Belgium has become my favorite place in recent years. "I arrived in Belgium."

Raphaelov was asked if he agreed with the statement that he is a more complete footballer at 34 compared to what he was at 26, and replied in the affirmative.

"It's definitely possible. The more experienced you are, the better you understand how to play your game and how to get the most out of yourself. You also understand what your shortcomings are and you try to hide them as much as possible."

Raphaelov admitted that "I was tense ahead of the announcement of the winner. I'm glad I won, it's closing a circle after all my years in Belgium. I stayed strong in both the good and bad times, and I think I got the title. Honestly, I think I can be even better ".
