Barcelona announced today the postponement of the elections for the presidency and the club's board of directors, which were scheduled for the 24th of this month, due to measures to limit the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The Catalan club said in a statement posted on its website: “The club met with the Catalan government virtually to discuss holding presidential and club board elections in light of the Corona virus crisis and the government confirmed that the current epidemiological situation does not allow movement outside the municipality for members who do not have a polling station in their municipality.” .
The statement added that "the club confirmed the impossibility of holding the elections on the specified date due to the movement restrictions imposed by the government, and therefore the date of the elections must be postponed," noting the possibility of evaluating the possibility of amending the current sports legislation in order to allow voting by mail at the new date for the elections.
