The doctor Mark Schmidt has been sentenced to four years and ten months' imprisonment and a three-year professional ban for doping.
In the first major criminal case in Germany since the introduction of the Anti-Doping Act in 2015, the Munich Regional Court also found the four helpers of the Erfurt doctor guilty.
