The guests were the favorites, but in the end the EC Peiting celebrated: On Friday evening, the team of coach Sebastian Buchwieser won against the Eisbären Regensburg.
The goalkeepers were the focus.
Peiting - Two minutes before that, Nardo Nagtzaam, in a promising position, had awarded the decision for the EC Peiting.
In a two-on-one situation, he had failed.
But when the Dutchman got the opportunity again to make the home win against the "Eisbären Regensburg" perfect, he acted confidently.
Nagtzaam, played well by Ty Morris, drove towards guest keeper Peter Holmgren and sank the target 24.6 seconds before the end to make it 2-0.

The second Peitinger goal was sorely needed, because Regensburg had vehemently pushed for the equalizer.

The "polar bears" took fire at the ECP gate, in which Florian Hechenrieder once again proved to be strong support.
But even he could not prevent it from being outnumbered: Regensburg hit the outside net, the puck remained in the game, Hechenrieder had lost his club, there was a crowd, finally the ECP keeper secured the target with a pike forward .
After that, two counter-chances by Nagtzaam and Martin Hlozek remained unused, so that Peiting had to continue shaking.
Eisbären Regensburg set the tone in the first third
In the end, however, there was a success over an opponent who had only lost twice in the major league and had come with four complete rows.
The Peitinger, on the other hand - only recently returned from a forced Corona break - had three field players less available.
But like last time, in the 7: 1 over Landsberg, the ECP fought its way into the game.
Regensburg got off to a powerful start.
After just 30 seconds, the guests had a good opportunity.
As a result, goalkeeper Hechenrieder was the focus of attention several more times.
After the first 20 minutes, the "polar bears" were 12-2 ahead in the shot statistics.
But Hechenrieder had repulsed all Regensburg attempts.
Against Fabian Herrmann (16.) and Constantin Ottl (18.) he saved unconventionally;
then lay with his back on the floor.
The Upper Palatinate showed a fine combination game, but also revealed that they are not among the best of the southern season in the power play.
Four times there was a chance in the first third - once even for 47 seconds with double the number - but nothing came out.
The middle section started with a big chance for Nagtzaam (21./Peiting was just outnumbered).
After that, the ECP was equal, there were opportunities on both sides.
"Eisbären" -Keeper Peter Holmgren showed the "Save of the evening": When Peitings Thomas Heger shot, the goalkeeper appeared to have been beaten, but saved spectacularly by hitting the puck that was spinning in the air behind his back with his catching hand (27.) .
In the final third it went back and forth - and suddenly Peiting was ahead: Weyrich had pulled from a distance, Gohlke held out the bat, Holmgren was defeated.
The leadership defended the ECP doggedly and with a lot of commitment.

At the EHF Passau, Peiting's opponent on Sunday, a suspected corona case occurred on Friday evening.
The game of the "Black Hawks" in Weiden was canceled at short notice.
Maybe, as it was said yesterday, the ECP will now play on Sunday against the actually play-free EV Füssen.
