The German national handball team started the World Cup in Egypt with a clear victory.
Against a non-competitive Uruguayan team, the DHB selection won 43:14 (16: 4).
Uruguay's handball players had qualified for a World Cup for the first time, but could not play an international match for about a year due to the corona crisis.
Before the game, DHB Vice President Bob Hanning had said that you would win the opening game "with a cup of tea in hand".
Although Germany was already leading 8: 1 after a quarter of an hour, the mood among the South Americans seemed better.
The Uruguayan bank cheered each of the few goals.
