The EC Peiting is back in the league game operation.

The team has a lot of catching up to do with the competition.

Last but not least, that poses quite a challenge for the coach.

Peiting - The second restart after a corona-related forced break, EC Peiting succeeded with the away win in Landsberg.

The Lechderby was also the starting signal for a game marathon in the current penultimate of the Oberliga Süd.

Until the end of the main round in mid-March there are still 22 games waiting for coach Sebastian Buchwieser's team.

“We can do that,” says team manager Gordon Borberg about the mammoth program with English weeks in a row.

A special challenge with all the upheavals in this Corona season is the design of the training.

“Of course that wasn't foreseeable beforehand, and I've never had anything like it before,” says Coach Buchwieser.

These circumstances are also uncharted territory for him.

EC Peiting: Training design a challenge

The training units of the Peitingers are particularly affected by this extraordinary situation.

“The target security, ie the self-image with the puck, is the first thing to be lost in such breaks.

Only then does it become noticeable in terms of fitness, ”Buchwieser recognized.

"That is why, especially after the second break in training, we focused on a lot of contact with the target and the passing game," reports the ECP coach, who then also had to work on the condition of his players.

"We practiced tackles less, and that was noticeable in Landsberg at the beginning because of the lack of tough tackle," reports Buchwieser.

“With breaks like this you also fall into a hole a bit, you saw that with other teams too.

We want to take the euphoria from the win in Landsberg with us into the next few weeks, ”said Buchwieser.

This is to prevent the players from falling into a mental hole in order to avoid such a hole.

Rather, he hopes that the success in the first game of this year will give his team another boost.

EC Peiting: Date hunt in the coming weeks

What follows now is a real deadline hunt.

In the coming weeks, the Peitinger will often be on duty every two to three days.

the tight schedule also has an impact on the design of the training.

"With the many games during the week it is important to pay attention to regeneration," says Buchwieser.

Therefore, the intensity of the exercise units should not be too high.

The focus of the practice units will therefore inevitably change a little.

"We train a few things that will be tailored to the respective opponent," said the coach.

The analysis of the respective counterparty and the appropriate training plan will be Buchwieser's focus in the near future.

One consequence of Corona suits the ECP coach: “Because nobody else is in the hall, we have a lot of ice age.

This means that some can train individually or work extra shifts, ”reports Buchwieser.

Peiting's opponents at the weekend: Eisbären Regensburg

(Friday, January 15th, 7.30pm, Eisstadion Peiting): This result came as a surprise: The “Eisbären Regensburg” lost on Tuesday evening at Höchstadter EC by 7-1.

For the team of coach Max Kaltenhauser it was only the second defeat of the season.

In December, the Regensburg residents had to take a longer forced Corona break.

They came back with three victories before the bankruptcy against Höchstadt took place.

The "Eisbären" are above all defensively strong (only 37 goals against in 16 games), also thanks to the keepers Peter Holmgren and Patrick Berger.

The top scorer is Nikola Gajovsky with 27 points (15 goals / 12 assists).

EHF Black Hawks Passau

(Sunday, January 17th, 6pm in the Eis-Arena Passau): The newcomer from the Bayernliga got off to a catastrophic start to the season: The "Black Hawks" only got one point out of the first ten games.

The Peitingern achieved a 5-0 success at the time.

Recently, however, the Passau team has picked up speed: From the last five games, the men of coach Ales Kreuzer (known in the region as a player at the EC Peiting from 2008 to 2010) scored twelve points.

Liam Blackburn clearly leads the internal scorer list with 22 points (10 goals / 12 assists) ahead of Marco Sedlar (6 goals / 8 assists) and defender Patrick Geiger (2 goals / 11 assists).
