Not exactly high-class, but still entertaining: SC Riessersee and EV Füssen fight a duel that tells slightly different stories than normal ice hockey games.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen -

SC Riessersee versus EV Füssen.

The naked result: 2: 1.

It wasn't a nice game, not one with a lot of chances, not one with a lot of excitement, not one on a high level.

Sounds boring.

But it was by no means.

It was the game of many little stories.

Some beautiful, some curious, some make you smile, some sad, some action-packed.

Problems with timing

It started with the first second.

Because something was wrong with the clock on the display board.

It didn't start at 8:00 p.m., as usual, but at 7:48 p.m.

The problem was quickly noticed and quickly resolved.

It went back and forth on the ice.

Anton Radu booked the first tentative chance for the SCR.

Otherwise: few interruptions, but also few scenes in front of the respective gates.

For the first time this year, the new DEL debutant Daniel Allavena took care of that from Riesserseer.

And that should still prove that the EHC Munich had not used him without reason.

But initially he experienced a quiet first third.

On the other side, Florian Vollmer had the first bigger opportunity after ten minutes.

While the SCR captain was forgiving, it rang through the stadium speakers: The Füssen supervisors may please put on their masks.

At first they did not register this call, immersed in the game.

The second then worked.

SCR noble fan shirt disappeared

Shortly afterwards the next announcement, a sad one.

Because the jersey of SCR Edelfan Gerdy Sperger, which has been hanging over her grandstand in the Olympic Ice Sports Center since this season, has disappeared and has not yet appeared again.

Everyone should contact who can say something about the whereabouts.

Entertaining discussion in the penalty box

It continued with ice hockey and a big chance from Benjamin Kronawitter.

But in the final accounts, this third was a dear one: no one really annoyed the other, no one really hurt the other.

Means: no goals, no penalties.

That changed in section two.

At first Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa failed, a little later he made it better - 1-0 for the SCR.

Then Kronawitter received a penalty, then Füssens Lubos Velebny.

They both spent half a minute in the penalty box together.

It was 30 entertaining seconds as they had a nice discussion.

Where did the second puck come from?

In between, Allavena repeatedly defused the few good EVF degrees.

Then the next curious scene: Suddenly a second puck was found on the field.

Where did it come from?

Questionable.

The most likely variant: from the safety net.

After a short interruption, the hosts made it 2-0.

And that was a really nice one.

Exemplarily played out by Radu with the end customer Robin Soudek (32nd).

A bad unicorn for the SCR

In the final third, a unicorn is practically in the field.

Arkiomaa did not hit the orphaned case completely unhindered.

He and everyone else in the stadium couldn't believe it.

It's good for the SCR that this doesn't happen so often, given 18 goals this season.

But with that the preliminary decision was missed.

And the EVF pressed.

Philipp Wachter threw himself in a shot while sliding across the ice (47th).

Then only Füssens Florian Simon clears his own goal spectacularly before Wachter did the same with his opponent.

This rushed on, Wachter hugged him heartily and only let go of him when he was on the floor.

Penalty for the SCR.

In this minority, the connection fell.

Finish, crossbar, margin, goal.

2:44 minutes left on the clock.

Quite hectic final phase

The referee briefly helped Riessersee's Alexander Eckl to judge his jersey, then the exciting final phase began.

Füssen wanted to equalize, but Allavena objected.

The guests in turn took out their goalkeeper and insisted on the 2: 2.

The SCR captured the target twice, but missed it twice with long shots.

In the final seconds there was again chaos in Allavena's realm.

But the clock ran out.

It remained with the first SCR victory in 2021.

Voices for the game

George Kink (SCR trainer):

“We're still looking for our rhythm.

At first we played too cautiously.

We have to be greedy, have more self-confidence.

In the second third we keep shooting past the goal, sometimes even at the empty one.

That hurts.

The newcomers, Nick Endress and Tobias Möller, did well.

But they haven't been playing for a long time.

Daniel Allavena was again our strong support, who exudes security. "

Andreas Becherer (EVF coach):

“Overall, that was a good performance from us.

The route was that we must be hard to crack again.

We succeeded.

Unfortunately, the guys don't reward each other.

And the connection came too late. "
