In an interview, Haching President Manni Schwabl speaks about the club's difficult sporting situation.

But he is not worried about the future of the game association.

  • The

    SpVgg Unterhaching

must this season concentrate on looking more towards the rear.

  • In the interview,

    Manni Schwabl

    emphasizes

    that the

    game association could

    also cope with relegation.

  • He is particularly proud of

    the association's

    solidarity

    in the pandemic.

Unterhaching - In the past few years, Spielvereinigung Unterhaching often looked towards promotion places at the beginning of the year.

This year the third division is fighting against relegation.

Most recently, Haching lost a 3-1 lead against Verl and lost the game.

Manfred "

Manni" Schwabl (54)

, maker of

SpVgg

from Holzkirchen, reveals in an interview what is important now and whether the Hachinger team would also be able to cope with relegation to the Bavarian regional league.

Mr. Schwabl, what lessons did Haching teach in 2020?

After this difficult year, the clear message must be to rely entirely on your own offspring in the future.

I would like to have 80 percent of the professional squad from my own stable from the 2022/23 season.

The rule is: Back to the roots.

In the meantime we have abandoned this plan a bit because of the economic upward pressure and from now on we are going through it again mercilessly.

Maybe it had to be so drastic in the last half of the season that we got the receipt from the football god for this changed course, which is atypical for Haching.

Manni Schwabl: "Reflect on virtues"

How shall we continue?

After the ascent was negligently gambled away last season, we have to remember our virtues again and this year mainly make sure that we don't slip down.

For a moment it looked like we were staggering.

In any case, I am realistic enough and look carefully ...

Do you generally prioritize solidarity over success?

As a board member, I have to look at the big picture.

I can't just pin everything down to points in the third division table.

In terms of solidarity, Haching did particularly well in 2020.

There was no short-time work, we were able to maintain our catering business, despite a difficult financial situation in our own association, we launched social projects like the last one at Sternstunden, we did not sell tickets for our own cash register but for children in need, and we have loyal ones Employees who go along the way together.

All of this makes you want more.

If you only discuss whether the ball goes into the goal or not, that's far too little for me in a club life.

SpVgg Unterhaching: Solidarity action "without alternative"

In this context, do you accept sporting collateral damage such as a relegation to the regional league?

There is no alternative to this approach for our club structure, because at the end of the day we have to act economically and for the benefit of the club.

If someone is of the opinion that they have a better concept or future-oriented suggestions for improvement, my door is always open.

In any case, we will mercilessly follow our course from now on and build on our own youth.

At the risk of it happening to us again at some point.

Would a regional league relegation be manageable at all?

Sure, then we'll just attack again.

In the third division, the ratio of income to expenditure is not that different from the regional division.

The 3rd division is basically hardly manageable.

Unless you drive the model there with young players and thus rely on lower personnel costs and realistic transfer revenues.

Then the third division for clubs may be feasible.

When it hits us, I'll be the first to turn my head for it, get up, roll up my sleeves, and attack again.

There is far too much heart and soul in this project, as well as social commitment and down-to-earthness in this association, to give up something like that lightly.

Manni Schwabl: "3rd division close to 2nd Bundesliga"

What has surprised you positively and negatively in the league so far?

I see the climbers positively.

They are all fully involved with the music.

All in all, I can see that the quality in the 3rd division is now very close to that of the 2nd division.

Economically far away, but good at it in terms of sport.

What I find negative is the basic issue that far too few young players are used in the third division.
