After two consecutive defeats, tonight (Friday) the Israeli volleyball team achieved a debut victory in the European Championship qualifiers - 2: 3 to Austria, where they lost 3: 0 in the first round of the qualifiers.
Noam Katz's team recorded 21:25, 25:20, 24:26, 25:20, 11:15, and on Sunday will meet Bulgaria when a victory will give them second place at home - provided the Bulgarians subdue Austria on Saturday.
"I am pleased with the victory, but we need to understand that patience is needed," said Noam Katz.
"I am so satisfied with our work, we are getting better from game to game, our players were under pressure, I take my hat off to the players who despite the first losses remained solid as a team. The level in Israel is different than in Europe and when we play against European teams it takes our players to get used to the level. "Investors, want and do not break and they behave exemplary in this tournament, everyone who played gave his, there are some elements that we need to improve, it will take time but it will happen in the end."
Slava Bechkela Hatsech: "In the first game we lost close and painful, and also against Bulgaria we lost a painful loss, I am glad we won this game, we can get to the situation against the Bulgarians if we win we will have a chance to advance to the European Championship.
