Inaccurate crosses and an unnecessary foul have deprived VfB Stuttgart of good prospects for their first home win of the season. With a late penalty goal it was enough to at least one point.

VfB Stuttgart remains without a home win in the 2020/2021 season.

Despite the better chances to score, it was only enough to score 2: 2 (0: 1) against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Nicolás González (58th minute of the game) and Silas Wamangituka from penalty (90th + 6) scored for Stuttgart.

Captain Lars Stindl with a penalty kick (35th minute of the game) and Denis Zakaria (61st) scored the goals for Gladbach.

The Saturday evening game in the Bundesliga was entertaining for a long time, especially because the teams pressed early when the opponent was in possession of the ball and rarely played long balls when they were in possession of the defensive.

The teams kept looking for playful solutions.

This resulted in both nice combinations away from his own penalty area and ball wins in the front line.

Above all, the Stuttgarters lacked precision on the last pass.

The hosts had the first good chances.

First Borna Sosa had a lot of space on the left, but his flat pass into the backcourt did not find any of his three team-mates (7.) Five minutes later the same picture on the right: González ‹pass into the middle did not reach any teammate.

On the Gladbach side, Breel Embolo failed with a low shot from twelve meters to Gregor Kobel (15th).

Stuttgart was still more dangerous.

After a cross from Sosa that was a little too high, González did not get the ball down with his head from close range (30th).

Think about Stuttgart, Gladbach hits

Four minutes later there was a penalty for the guests, Sosa straddled Lainer's legs from behind unnecessarily in the penalty area because he had no chance of getting the ball.

Stindl certainly transformed.

In the second half, too, Stuttgart was visually superior.

In the 49th minute, a sharp pass into the middle did not find a teammate, but Nicolas Elvedi's brutality - his involuntary return forced Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer to a parade.

Four minutes later, Waldemar Anton had a good chance after a corner.

Matthias Ginter saved on the line.

After Embolo lost the ball, Stuttgart was once again dangerous on the counterattack - and this time scored.

González equalized with a diving header.

The joy did not last long.

After one of the few counterattack opportunities for the guests, Zakaria achieved the new tour guide at the end of a solo.

As a result, Stuttgart was still superior in the field, but could not create any more great opportunities - until the penalty kick in stoppage time.
