Pinturault on Kilde: "It's always a shame that a big opponent is eliminated by an injury"

Third in the Flachau (Austria) slalom this Sunday and now wide leader in the standings, the Frenchman Alexis Pinturault, is the big favorite for the big globe after the serious injury of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.

How do you judge your results for the weekend?

Alexis Pinturault

: The return to the podium in slalom feels good.

The start of the season was not easy for us skiers who do several disciplines.

We had a lot of giants and super-Gs, which didn't give me so much time to train in slalom.

Now I hope to be able to improve day by day, we are entering a slalom-type boulder, I'm happy with the way I worked this week and my results for the weekend (9th Saturday), compared to previous slaloms which were not as good as hoped (...) I must continue to build on the performance of the weekend.

I don't yet have the level to be as consistent as Schwarz, almost on all the podiums, but my ski is good enough to hope to play a little more in front, in the top-5 more regularly.

How did you receive the news of Kilde's serious injury?

I was not very happy.

Yes it is profitable for me but it is the kind of things that I do not want to go through.

I want to fight with him in all races, that we give the best, and that in the end everything is played on a regular basis.

Well, it remains regular since injury is part of our sport, but it's always a shame that a big opponent is eliminated by an injury.

What does the general classification inspire you (leader with 277 points ahead of Swiss Odermatt, 3rd behind Kilde)?

It's a comfortable position, but so far we have done a lot more technique than speed, which will now follow with Kitzbühel (Austria) and Garmisch (Germany) the next few weeks and (we) should recover another descent canceled in Wengen (Switzerland) at the end of the season.

The classification can still change with descenders going up.

But with four victories, today a new podium, I am consistent, in slalom I sometimes sinned but I never went out.

This allows me to have a small advance.

I feel quite comfortable on the skis and I want to continue having fun.
