Inter Milan celebrates victory in the Derby d'Italia.
Last season's runner-up defeated champions Juventus 2-0 (1-0) on matchday 18.
In the league, Inter are now level on points with AC Milan at the top of the table (40 points).
Juventus are only fifth (33 points) after their second defeat of the season, but have played one game less than Inter.
AC Milan could return to first place with a draw on Monday (8.45 p.m.) at Cagliari Calcio.
Arturo Vidal initiated the victory.
After a cross from Nicolò Barella, Vidal headed for the lead (13th).
For the 33-year-old it was the first league goal for Inter.
He scored his last Serie A goal to date in 2015 in the Juventus jersey.
A few minutes after the break, Inter added the second goal.
Defender Alessandro Bastoni played a pass over 50 meters into Barella's barrel, who dribbled into the penalty area and scored the 2-0 (52nd).
Juventus did not come back to the goal.
This was the first time Inter won in Serie A against Juve in almost eleven years without conceding a goal.
In April 2010 Inter won the Derby d'Italia 2-0, when the club won the Italian championship for the last time.
"Juve has won the Scudetto for many years," said Vidal after the game at Sky Sport: "But we have shown that we are on the same level to fight for the title".
The victory gives the team confidence "to believe in winning the league".
Juventus have lost two of their last five league games.
However, the champions left a few points at the start of the season when five of the first eight league games ended only in a draw.
