Washington Spirit picked striker Trinity Rodman in the second pick of the women's soccer league draft.
Rodman Jr. is the daughter of 90s basketball legend Dennis.
Trinity plays in the U.S. women's under-20 team and was a significant part of winning the Concussion Cup in March 2020.
"Just being in the draft at my age is crazy, so being number 2 and being selected by such an amazing team is out of this world, I could not ask for anything more" she told ESPN. "DC has an amazing plan for the future, great team, coach Amazing.
I talked to him a few times.
I know he is a tough coach but I am excited to be his player and learn from him, "she added.
About her father she said: "He was an amazing athlete and I got my good genes from him but I want them to know me for who I am and not just as Dennis' daughter."
Rodman, as I recall, won five NBA championships, two in the Detroit uniform and three in the Bulls uniform.
About six months ago he returned to the spotlight after starring in the documentary series "The Last Dance" that followed the last days of the Chicago dynasty conducted by Michael Jordan.
