Manchester City overtakes Liverpool: Ilkay Gündogan meets

Manchester City took advantage of leaders Manchester United's goalless draw against Liverpool FC.

Pep Guardiola's team won 4-0 (1-0) against Crystal Palace on matchday 19 of the Premier League, overtaking Liverpool in the table and is now only two points behind Manchester United.

However, City have played one game fewer and a win in the catch-up game against Aston Villa on Wednesday would make City the new leaders.

Kevin de Bruyne started the Citizens' victory against Crystal Palace worth seeing: he crossed the ball into the penalty area and John Stones headed for the lead (26th).

For de Bruyne it was the 100th assists for Manchester City in all competitions.

De Bruyne has a total of 76 templates in the Premier League.

Only nine players have prepared more goals in league history, including David Beckham (80 assists) and leader Ryan Giggs (162).

Manchester remained the game-determining team, after the break Ilkay Gündoğan increased to 2-0.

In the penalty area, he prevailed in a duel and flicked the ball into the right corner of the goal (56th).

Gündoğan scored his fourth goal in the sixth league game in a row.

According to the statistics service Opta, he had previously used 55 games for four goals.

The preliminary decision was made in the 68th minute: After a corner kick, Stones scored his second goal.

Crystal Palace did not find their way into the game, until the end of the current 13th of the table there was no shot on goal.

Raheem Sterling scored in the final minutes with a free kick to make it 4-0 (88th).
