With all due respect to the encouraging opening of the group from the Big Apple, few thought that would be the end of the encounter with the leader of the East.
But Tom Thibodeau's New York is not the New York of recent years: facing the improved defense they faced, the Celtics provided a dismal first half in which they scored just 35 points, with terrible percentages off the arc and more assists from the ball.
The Knicks took advantage of this to escape a double-digit lead, which grew to 46:72 in the third quarter led by RJ Barrett and Julius Randall.
From there the Greens no longer knew how to come back - not on an evening when they score 7 of 46 (!) Off the arc.
Kamba Walker got the first few minutes of the season again, but if the bad performance itself was not enough (9 points, 3 of 13 from the field, 5 turnovers), then the center suffered a rib injury during the third quarter and did not return to the floor.
Randall (20 points and 12 rebounds) and Barrett (19 and 11) stood out for the winner, who also received 17 from the surprising Emanuel Quickley.
Jaylen Brown is the only one to function on the other side with 25 points.
