Bayern Munich has not been at its peak lately, but tonight (Sunday) the Bundesliga champions did their thing.
After the relegation to Holstein Kiel in the cup, the Bavarians hosted Freiburg who came away with a streak of four wins and made it very difficult for the host, but eventually won 1: 2 and the three points remained at home.
Now the gap from Leipzig has grown to 4 points.
The game opened with a goal by Robert Lewandowski in the 7th minute, which was his 21st goal this season.
Nils Petersen (62) with his first touch of the ball equalized to 1: 1 and stressed the host, until Thomas Müller regained the advantage in the 74th minute.
Petersen was close to completing a double in extra time to determine a points distribution, but his ball met the crossbar and Bayern came out lucky.
