Athletic Bilbao won the Spanish Super Cup for the third time in its history, after defeating Barcelona by three goals against two goals after extending in the final match that brought them together last night.
Antoine Griezmann scored two goals for Barcelona in the 40 and 77 minutes, while Oscar de Marcos, Villeprey and Inaki Williams scored for Athletic in the 42nd, 90th and 93rd minutes of the match.
Barcelona ended the match with ten players after Argentine captain Lionel Messi was sent off after returning to the video assistant referee (VAR) technique for hitting one of the opponents' players without a ball in the last minute of the second extra time before the referee blew the whistle at the end of the match announcing Bilbao's victory and achieving his third title in the competition.
