Will Israeli football return this weekend?
A marathon of talks has been held in recent hours between the chairman of the leagues, Erez Kalfon, and senior officials in government ministries ahead of the vote tomorrow at 5:00 PM in the government on extending the closure and exceptions in certain industries.
Kalfon relied on an oral promise he received two weeks ago on the eve of entering the third closure, in which he was told by senior Ministry of Health officials that the professional football leagues would return to activity this coming Friday, even if the closure is extended.
Kalfon, who understands a bit in government ministries, knows that promises have to be kept otherwise they are not worth much, and he will wait tomorrow for a vote in the government that will be dramatic for the future of Israeli football.

Kalfon spoke with government officials today and said, among other things: "The continued shutdown of football is a disaster from which there is no possibility of rising. All over Europe, football is played in countries where the morbidity is higher than in Israel. "It's economic. 5,000 households live from football. If we don't finish the leagues on time, the teams will not participate in Europe."
The ball is now in the hands of government ministers who will have to decide tomorrow whether to exclude football as promised.
The government also knows that there is no real danger in holding games and that during a long year of Corona, even those infected with football recovered and most of them had no symptoms at all.
The principal is now asking for the promises to be kept and for them to return to playing football at the weekend.
