Make three out of four

How won so melted: The SC Riessersee had recently increased its squad, but five injured throw him back now.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen -

"It was nice." That is what George Kink says when looking back at the ice hockey league game last Friday against EV Füssen.

The coach of SC Riessersee doesn't mean the result (2-1 victory), but his line-up.

For the first time this season, this was as much occupied in terms of quantity as that of the opponent - 18 field players and two goalies.

The word mini-squad was allowed to be deleted from the vocabulary for SCR.

But in his “it was nice” there is a little sadness.

Because he says it right: It was nice.

Past tense.

A few days later, the situation with the white-blue is very different.

Goalie Christian Schneider and the four field players Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa, Anton Radu, Tobias Möller and Tobias Kircher are now on the injured list.

The fact that Kircher and Schneider are missing is not new.

The center will no longer be available for an indefinite period, as confirmed by Managing Director Pana Christakakis.

Meanwhile, Schneider continues to suffer from an upper body injury.

He should start again next week with easy ice training.

The remaining trio joined them last weekend.

Top scorer Arkiomaa was missing from the 4-8 bankruptcy on Sunday in Regensburg and was sorely missed there.

He will continue to do so.

An upper body injury puts the Finn out of action for the time being.

He will probably not be able to help Riessersee in the next three games.

And that hurts.

“Because we simply cannot replace him,” emphasizes Kink.

Möller and Radu got it in the game with the polar bears.

Both players accidentally got the puck in the face.

“I haven't seen so much blood on the ice in a long time,” says Christakakis.

He would have liked to have done without this sight.

Better still to the subsequent diagnoses.

Möller, who only made his debut in the SCR dress against Füssen, is expected to be out for two weeks.

Radu, who returned on January 10 against Weiden after recovering from an injury, probably didn't have it so badly.

But the SCR will also miss him at EV Lindau today.

"We can hardly play with four complete rows - boom, there are only three again," Christakakis quarrels.

Kink does the same: "It would have been good if it had stayed that way in view of our upcoming program."

Lindau will be followed by another duel with feet on Friday, and Peiting will be waiting on Sunday.

On January 26th and 29th it will be against Höchstadt and Landsberg.

A game plan that really suited the SCR at the right time.

Because four of the five upcoming opponents are among the Garmisch-Partenkirchen team.

If it doesn't go against the championship favorites, the Riesserseer have consistently scored so far.

After 22 games, eleven wins (once in overtime) and eleven defeats (three times in overtime, once after a penalty shoot-out) have been recorded.

The SCR had to accept six of these bankruptcies against the three top teams - Selb, Regensburg and Rosenheim (two each).

Today, Kink and Co. are traveling to an opponent they haven't met this season.

While the white-blue team can only meet Deggendorf and Regensburg again in the playoffs or placement games, all three duels are still pending with Lindau.

The coach is once again preparing for an uncomfortable opponent who is considered one of the previous surprises.

The Islanders do not have a top scorer in the Arkiomaa category in their ranks, "but if we give out as many presents as on Sunday, it doesn't matter whether the opponent is Lindau or Regensburg", Kink is certain.

The SCR has not yet met the second surprise team of the season: the Höchstadter EC.

If you are wondering that the HEC (34 points, 20 games) is suddenly in front of the SCR (36 points, 22 games) in the table: This is due to the adjustment of the rating system.

If the main round cannot be played completely, the point quotient decides.

Last week, all major league clubs agreed on this together with the DEB (we reported).
