Maccabi Tel Aviv is close to strengthening ahead of the decisive stages of the season after reaching an agreement in principle with the nationalist TJ Klein, who currently plays for Italian Brescia.
The Yellows have reached an understanding with the player, having opened talks with him in recent days, and now they need to complete the move through a deal with the Italian team for compensation for his release.
If indeed Klein signs with Maccabi, the team will have to pay NIS 200,000 for him under the new Citizens' Law, and this will be the second player this season to pay that amount for him, after they did the same with Max Heidegger.

Klein (26, 2.06) has been a graduate of Richmond University since 2017. He began his professional career at the Turkish Glatsray, but after less than a season he moved to Hapoel Holon and played for the team for two and a half years.
His last season, the 2019/20 season, was the best, averaging 12.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and even reaching the Israeli national team.
Despite this, he did not return to Israel after the corona cessation.
This season he signed for Italian Brescia, but the team suffered from a very weak season opener as it is ranked 15th in the table.
Klein played 13 games in the Italian league and recorded 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
In 9 EuroCup games he recorded 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Klein will step into the shoes of Amara Studmeier who was supposed to continue in the yellow uniform this season as well, but chose to retire and currently serves as the assistant coach at the Brooklyn Nets.
The Yellows have long wanted to add an American inside player, but have not done so while giving Dragon Bender a chance, and now Klein's expected arrival will give them more space and rest for Ante Zizic and Othello Hunter.
If he does sign, Klein is expected to arrive in Israel in the coming days.
