The lockdown was extended until February 14th - the restart in football is a long way off.

Coach Alex Plabst from SE Freising has already ticked off the league cup.

County

 - The number of infections is still high and politicians have extended the lockdown to February 14th.

That means: In amateur sport, there is currently not even the slightest idea of a return to regular operations.

At the end of February, the league cup was supposed to open the game year 2021 of the national soccer team - but those responsible for the two district teams see black for this competition.

VfB Hallbergmoos

At VfB Hallbergmoos there are currently no plans for the restart, says sporting director Anselm Küchle.

He is prepared for the fact that you have to be quick when the green light is given: "I assume that we won't get more than three weeks of preparation this winter."

The association has officially canceled the first group games in the League Cup.

However, Küchle is already thinking a step further and is rather black for the side competition: A complete cancellation of the league cup would not surprise him because the schedule with two competitions, if the game can be played again at some point, would be too tight.

For him, the European Football Championship is an essential factor here: If the tournament, which is taking place in several countries, actually went through to plan, then the amateur footballers would not be able to extend their round of points too far back.

Küchle is currently trying very hard to keep in touch with the coaches and the players.

For this purpose, individual training is carried out via an app - and the commitment in the troop is right.

"Thomas Edlböck is still our training world champion," says Küchle.

The midfielder recently became a father - and is now apparently completing the home fitness training with the daughter in his arms.

This individual fitness is the basis for being ready for the league with just three weeks of preparation.

The extended lockdown has the advantage that the entire VfB squad is now healthy again.

So storm hope Fabian Diranko has overcome his injuries and is ready for football.

And also defensive player Andreas Giglberger was written back to health by the doctors after a long break.

Thus there is a chance with the full band in the crucial weeks in the fight for the championship with the table runner-up of the Landesliga Südost.

SE Freising

Alex Plabst, sporting director and regional league coach at SE Freising, has no hope of joining the company anytime soon: "We will definitely not play before the end of March or the beginning of April." And further: "We have already ticked the cup anyway", Plabst brushes aside part of the outstanding mandatory program.

That leaves the league operation, but here too the SEF coach has little hope of a smooth implementation.

“Preparations should start at the beginning of March.” There could be two weeks of online training, followed by at least four weeks of team training.

Plabst also believes that amateur sport - unlike after the first lockdown - will not receive any preferential treatment this time.

In 2020, team sports were soon possible again.

"There will be no unjustified headwinds from other industries," says the SEF trainer.

Therefore, in addition to the cancellation of the league cup competition, there are only two possible scenarios for him: Either regular operations will be possible by April at the latest, and the current season, which began in mid-July 2019, will be played to the end with enough training lead-up.

Or the association cancels the round, finds individual solutions for promotion and relegation and starts a completely new season in summer.

"It doesn't make sense to go into a third year," says Plabst.

Freising's national league footballers keep themselves individually fit and wait for things until a decision is made.

In view of the lockdown, there is not much more they can do at the moment anyway.
