Toulouse, 2nd in Ligue 2 and Grenoble, 5th, both crossed the stage of the 8th round of the Coupe de France, excluding Niort (1-0) and Clermont (1-1, 4-2 tab), respectively, on Wednesday.

In the other two meetings of the day, Caen qualified on the field of Guingamp (3-1) and will have the privilege of meeting Paris SG, defending champion, in February.

Sochaux for its part won in Nancy (1-0).

Grenoble defeated Clermont at the end of the penalty shootout (1-1, 4 tab to 2) and will meet Monaco in the next round.

Faced with a team from Clermont who has just climbed on the podium in the league (3rd) but with a composition far removed from that usually aligned, Grenoble (5th) opened the scoring in the 32nd minute by Jérôme Mombris.

Clermont striker Jordan Tell immediately equalized (1-1, 33rd) but the score did not change.

The Grenoble goalkeeper Esteban Salles was then decisive, deflecting two shots on goal from Clermont and allowing his team to reach the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, where they will host Monaco.

Toulouse dominated Niort (1-0) and will move to Bordeaux in the next round.

Sochaux, winner in Nancy on a goal against his own camp from Nancy defender Abdelhamid El Kaoutari, will receive Saint-Etienne.

In the last meeting of the evening, Caen won at Guingamp thanks to goals from Jessy Deminguet (45 + 1), Nicholas Gioacchini (47th) and Alexandre Mendy (75th).

The Guingampais reduced the gap at the very end of the game by M'Changama (90 + 3).

On Tuesday, six clubs had qualified in the other matches between L2 teams (Auxerre, Rodez, Paris FC, Valenciennes, Amiens and AC Ajaccio), in a Coupe de France in an unprecedented format because of Covid-19.

The 104th edition was split into two routes which will meet at the round of 16 stadium: amateurs on the one hand, whose competitions remain suspended, and the L1 and L2 teams on the other.
