While the Portuguese player for Juventus of Turin, Cristiano Ronaldo became the top scorer in football history, with 760 goals, another ball lover made his way into history.
This one was much less known until then.
Tom King, goalkeeper for Welsh club Newport Counrty AFC, which plays in the English fourth division, on Tuesday night broke the world record for the furthest goal, measured at 96.01 m by the Guinness Book of Records.
“King officially broke the record for the goal scored from the longest distance in an official football match, covering the incredible distance of 96.01 m,” writes on his website the book which lists the most serious records like the most unusual.
The ball carried by the wind, an "involuntary" goal
In the 12th minute of a league game against Cheltenham, the 26-year-old goalkeeper took a throw-in from his 5.50m line and the ball, blown away and after a rebound in front of the opponent's box, had lobed his counterpart Joshua Griffith, to finish in the back of the net for the opener.
Enough to smile this player, not used to scoring, and who obviously had no intention of this clearance.

While he apologized, from a distance, to his counterpart, his teammates celebrated this unexpected goal.
"I hope not to be dismissed from the clan of the guards," he laughed at the microphone of the BBC.
There had been a lot of winds for several weeks.
But it will make history forever.
Like all goalkeepers, I prefer to perform well in my goal, making saves.

For the anecdote, this goal was not enough for his team, which occupies second place in the standings, to win.
Since after scoring, the goalkeeper also conceded a goal to concede the 1-1 draw.

The previous record was also set in England, when Bosnian Asmir Begovic, in 2013, while playing with Stoke City, scored a 91.9m goal against Southampton, in the Premier League, in November 2013, after only 13 seconds of play.
