The Starbulls Rosenheim could not reward themselves for a strong performance in the away game against the Selber Wolves on Friday evening. In the top game of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd against the leader of the table, the green-whites were the team with the larger game shares, the majority of clear scoring chances and the significantly better score.

Due to the individual class of Selb's goalkeeper Florian Mnich and league top scorer Nick Miglio, the Wolves won the game with a narrow and happy 5-4 win.

The Starbulls had traveled to the top game in Upper Franconia as second in the table.

And the fact that they lacked important players with Enrico Henriquez-Morales and Garret Pruden compared to the last games - in addition to Dennis Schütt and Kevin Slezak, who had been out for a while - was not noticed by the green-whites.

The team of coach John Sicinski was against the league leaders from the first to the last minute the better team - but not the more effective.

The Starbulls shot a total of 40 times at the same goal, while the opponent only managed 25 connections.

Broken down to really good scoring chances, the distribution spoke even more clearly for Rosenheim.

But too seldom and especially not in crucial phases, the Starbulls brought the puck past the strong goalkeeper Florian Mnich.

“We owned a lot of discs and were very present.

I'm really very satisfied with everything today - just not with the end result, ”said Starbulls head coach John Sicinski after the game.

The hosts took the lead out of the blue in the 10th minute of the game.

Robert Hechtl sneaked the disc against the starbulls who were building up and served Landon Gare, who left Starbulls goalkeeper Andreas Mechel no chance to defend himself.

Shortly after the start of the second period, Hechtl overcame Keeper Mechel with a shot from pain and increased it to 2-0 (23rd).

Even in this phase, however, a Rosenheim goal was in the air.

When Maximilian Vollmayer grabbed the target at his own blue line, switched on the turbo and hit halfway into the short corner for the well-deserved goal (27th), the front runner was almost empty for a long time.

Curtis Leinweber, Florian Krumpe and Dominik Daxlberger, on the other hand, had the equalizer on the racket.

When three players of their own had to go to the penalty box within a short period of time, the Starbulls initially had a hard time with two more players on the ice, but finally used the situation to score.

Kyle Gibbons hit the low shot in the lower left corner (37th).

Kilian Steinmann failed to bring the green-whites into the lead when, after a nice interaction with Michael Baindl, he failed at the keeper from close range (38th).

Then Nick Miglio himself showed his class, played his speed, placed perfect on Jan Hammerbauer and the netted from close range to 3: 2 (39th) - it was the first shot on the Rosenheim goal after more than 10 minutes.

The Starbulls were not discouraged, dominated the last part of the game and came quickly and deservedly to another equalizer.

Dominik Daxlberger held the bat in a strong diagonal assist from Leinweber - 3: 3 (42).

It now seemed only a matter of time before the first tour of Rosenheim.

When Daxlberger dusted the wide open Selber goal from a short distance, arms were already going up to cheer, but goalkeeper Mnich fished the target with his catching hand from the goal line (48th).

A minute later, Mnich rescued Steinmann with another great deed.

Then the Starbulls were outnumbered for the first time in the game, but even now they weren't in danger of conceding a goal.

At first it also looked like this in another self-superior game.

But Jan Hammerbauer hit goalkeeper Mechel's skate from behind the baseline and the puck stayed a few millimeters behind the goal line (56th).

Once again, Selb had turned the game on its head, happily led 4: 3 and enjoyed another superior number game, in which Miglio once again underlined his individual class with a strong performance.

With Herbert Geisberger it was finally a former Rosenheim player who successfully poked up from a short distance and made it 5: 3 (57th).

Without a goalkeeper and with an additional field player, the Starbulls once again inflamed a lot of pressure, Selb could not free himself, but keeper Mnich prevented the impact several times.

Alexander Höller scored 5: 4 from a tight angle 30 seconds before the end, but the goal came too late.

Despite a strong performance, the Starbulls had to return home without points.

The two teams will meet again next Friday for the next top duel on Rosenheim ice.

On Sunday, however, the Starbulls will first receive the Riverkings Landsberg in their ROFA stadium.

This game starts at 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on www.sprade.tv.
