Liverpool FC suffered another defeat in the Premier League title race.
In the home game against Burnley FC, the Reds lost 1-0 (0-0), Ashley Barnes scored the decisive goal with a penalty (83rd minute).
Liverpool FC have been waiting for a win for five games and for more than 400 minutes for their own goal. In the table, the fourth-placed defending champion is six points short of leaders Manchester United.
It was Liverpool's first defeat at Anfield since a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace on April 23, 2017, after which the team remained unbeaten 68 times in the league in their own stadium.
Liverpool started against the outsider known for his rustic style of play without the actual regular strikers Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the starting line-up.
Against deeply defending guests it was difficult for the newly formed offensive to use their own ball possession advantages for dangerous goal shots.
Firmino replacement Divock Origi had the best chance in a largely sobering first round, but the Belgian failed on the post (44th).
On the way to the cabin, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp fought a battle of words with Burnley coach Sean Dyche.
Klopp's dissatisfaction was not alleviated by the football of his team in the second half: Even with Firmino and Salah, who were substituted in the 57th minute, Liverpool ran in vain, time after time the attacks of the Reds ended in the arms of Burnley-Kepper Nick Pope.
In the closing stages, Burnley's guest striker Ashley Barnes appeared in front of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker in one of the rare attacks.
The Brazilian brought down his opponent in a direct duel, and Barnes himself converted the penalty to the happy 1-0 (83rd).
