Dan Shamir opened a new season in the Australian League as the coach of the New Zealand Breakers with a painful loss, 94:91 against Adelaide after extra time.
Dan Shamir's team started the game poorly and absorbed 29 points in the first quarter, but came back in the second quarter and took the lead in the third quarter.
The excellent Ty Webster gave Shamir a 79-82 lead with a 3-pointer with 51 seconds left, but Donald Sloan sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer from 10 seconds to go.
Tony Crocker gave Adelaide a 3-point lead with 11 seconds left in overtime and Marr Patterson missed a three-pointer that could have sent the game into extra time.
Ty Webster led Shamir's team with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Finn Delaney and Lamar Patterson (7 turnovers) added 16 each.
Colton Iverson X Maccabi Tel Aviv contributed only one point.
Isaac Humphries led the winners with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Donald Sloan added 20, including the basket that sent the game into overtime.
