The Starbulls Rosenheim prevailed 3-1 on Friday, January 22nd, against leaders Selber Wölfe.

This is the revenge for the defeat a week ago, when they lost 4: 5.

The press release in full:

Rosenheim

- The

Starbulls Rosenheim

have also won the second home game against the

Selber Wölfe

in the current season of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd (ticker for reading).

The green-whites convinced against the table leaders on Friday evening with a strong team performance.

Neither the goal conceded early, nor a splendid goalkeeper Florian Mnich in the opposing case could slow the Starbulls.

A week ago, the Rosenheim team lost 4-5 to the same opponent in the away game, despite a similar clear superiority.

Both teams went

into the top game very well in terms of personnel

.

The newly signed Feodor Boiarchinov, who had the experience of more than 350 second division games, made his debut among the guests from Upper Franconia.

The focus was from the opening bully to Selb's goalkeeper Florian Mnich.

Like last Friday, he defused numerous good Rosenheim bullet opportunities.

Instead of taking the lead through Curtis Leinweber, Tobias Meier or Florian Heidenreich themselves, the euphoric hosts were caught freezing at the beginning of the 5th minute of the game.

Nick Miglio, top scorer in the league and a week ago prepared three self-matched goals against the Starbulls, successfully completed an outnumbered counterattack to make it 0-1.

The home side, however, remained vicious and came up with further high-profile chances, while the Rosenheim goal, guarded by the well-playing Andreas Mechel, was only in danger when Selb was able to play in the majority for two minutes because of a small penalty for Kyle Gibbons and celebrated great playfulness.

With the dawn of the last minute of the first part of the game, the Starbulls were finally able to

cheer for

the

redeeming equalizer

.

Dominik Kolb, who was still active for the opponent last season, finished from half distance, the disc jumped to the iron of the guest goal and from there to or even just behind the goal line.

Ultimately, however, the goal to make it 1: 1 was credited to Curtis Leinweber, who quickly reacted to dust off the net (20th).

Even before the break siren, Starbulls captain Michael Baindl caught an unnecessary penalty time, so that the guests began the second part of the game in excess and sniffed at the renewed lead.

Andreas Mechel was able to prevent a goal with strong saves against Jan Hammerbauer and Sam Verelst.

It took Mechel's front men a few minutes to get the game back under control, slowly but surely working their way back to dominance.

Tobias Meier brought himself into a great final position with a technically worth seeing action, but just missed (28th).

Kevin Slezak seemed to catch the guest goalkeeper on the wrong foot with his backhand, but Mnich also solved this difficult task with a remarkable reflex (29th).

Then Dominik Daxlberger splashed on the gang with presence of mind in a sloppily played disc by a self-defender and immediately hung up for Simon Heidenreich, who pulled off directly and

scored the Rosenheim 2-1 lead with a low shot

.

The puck jumped from one inner post to the other before it crossed the goal line.

Two minutes later, one of these posts in the Selber Tor prevented

the third goal from Rosenheim

when Baindl pulled flat (33rd).

Crucial moments with regard to the outcome of the game occurred in the final phase of the middle third.

The guests were able to act with two players more for just under a minute, but presented themselves at the end of the game in an untypically hasty way.

Finally, Starbulls goalkeeper Mechel prevented the 2-2 equalizer with a brilliant act against Verelst (38th).

Seconds later, Florian Krumpe, who was coming from the penalty box, failed to drive towards guest goalkeeper Mnich.

Half a minute before the second siren, a quick Rosenheim counterattack resulted in the 3: 1.

Baindl saved and Maximilian Vollmayer twisted the disc from his wrist into the right corner of the cross, choosing the right moment for the finish so as not to give Mnich a chance to defend himself (40th).

In the final third, which was initially broken, clear scoring chances were in short supply.

With a good deed against Carl Zimmermann, Mechel prevented a second guest goal (46th), which would have made the game really exciting again.

The high Franconians did not have a recipe for putting the home side under significant pressure.

The Starbulls were their fourth goal - twice by Florian Krumpe, once each by Leinweber and Kevin Slezak -

much closer than the guests to the connecting gate

.

The final act of replacing the goalkeeper with an additional field player had no effect.

Guest coach Herbert Hohenberger, who attested the Starbulls a well-deserved victory, and his team remained without points in their second guest appearance at the ROFA Stadium.

The Starbulls won the first season comparison on Rosenheimer Eis on January 6th with 2-1.

In the quotient evaluation, the Selber Wölfe (2.40 points per game) had to give up the table lead to the Eisbären Regensburg (2.47) who won 6-2 against Memmingen on the same evening.

The Starbulls occupy

third

place with an average of 2.23 points per game

.

On Sunday, Selb and Regensburg will meet in a direct duel, while the Starbulls will not play their next league game in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd until next Friday.

The Green-Whites are then guests of the Memmingen Indians.
