Defending champion and record cup winner Arsenal FC has been eliminated from the English FA Cup.
The capital club lost in the fourth round to the surprise team Southampton FC 0: 1 (0: 1).
An own goal by Arsenal's defender Gabriel after 24 minutes was enough for the team of former Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhüttl to make it into the round of 16.
The Brazilian deflected a shot from Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters into the goal of keeper Bernd Leno.
It was the club's fourth own goal in all competitions this season - no other club in the Premier League has achieved it.
The Gunners had more possession in the uneventful game.
But it wasn't until the second half that she approached equalization.
Rob Holding (59th) and Nicolas Pepé (81st) still had the best chances, but couldn't use them.
After beating Newcastle 3-0 in the Premier League last Monday, Arteta made seven changes.
Without Emile Smith Rowe and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who, according to Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta, was not in the squad for personal reasons, the Londoners hardly fired any shots at the goal of the defensively strong Saints in St. Marys Stadium.
Arsenal secured their 14th cup win last season, making them the record winner.
However, Manchester United (12 titles) could move closer to the title record with a win, but the Red Devils must pass Liverpool on Sunday (6 p.m., TV: Sky).
In the league, Arsenal will return to Southampton on Tuesday, who will meet Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fifth round on February 15.
