“Started strong, slowed down considerably.” This is how Kira Weidle describes her World Cup weekend in Crans-Montana.
The Starnberg woman was not satisfied with two of her three races.
Starnberg - After her great fifth place in the downhill on Friday (we reported), the speed weekend in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) didn't go quite according to plan for Kira Weidle.
The Starnberg World Cup skier finished the second downhill on Saturday in 16th place, in the Super-G on Sunday she finished 26th and thus just about in the points.
Weidle's conclusion was accordingly mixed: “I am leaving Crans-Montana with mixed feelings.
Started strong, decreased significantly. ”She was only satisfied with her performance on Friday.
Weidle first struggled with the start number - and then with a "messed up" performance
On Saturday, the flagship athlete from the Starnberg Ski Club struggled with her low start number 5 and the associated poorer conditions.
With the exception of the winner and season dominator Sofia Goggia (start number 9) and the ninth-placed Federica Brignone (3), all runners who landed in front of Weidle had start numbers beyond 10. The only German participant was over one and a half seconds behind Goggia, the Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.27 seconds) and Elena Curtoni (+0.6) were relegated to their places.
In the unpleasant Super-G on Sunday, Kira Weidle didn't even get into step.
The 24-year-old described her performance as “screwed up” and “faulty”.
The consequence was 2.35 seconds behind the dominant winner Gut-Behrami.
Silver went to Tamara Tippler (+0.93 seconds), third place went to Brignone (+1.02).
