That's not how Conor McGregor hoped his comeback to the ring would look.
The Irish fighter lost by knockout to Dustin Fourier in the second round of UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi, but promised that this was not the end of his path in the field - not at all.
"It's hard for me not to do anything for a long time," he said.
"I did not feel as comfortable as I had hoped to feel, but need to move on. I need activity, you know I do not get along with being out of this lance for long."
Last Thursday, the Irishman claimed he wanted to have seven fights in the next year and a half.
Days will tell if that will be the case.
"We'll meet here another week," he clarified, as he left the Octagon with the help of a crutch.
"I always wanted to focus on my MMA career, but I'm also open to going back to boxing. Either way, I'm always the same person. The competitive fire is always burning in me.
Fourier celebrated the victory and said, 'I would like to meet Conor for a rematch.
I always wanted to rip Nate Diaz too, that's something that interests me.
McGregor's great rival Habib Normgomedov tweeted after the fight: "This is what happens when you switch teams, leaving your partners in training that has made you a champion and competing against small children, away from reality."

But the most interesting things at the end of the fight came from UFC President Dana White, who was not happy with his superstar's ability.
"There are two possible ways," he said, "either he's hungrier, or he's finished, he's got the money. It's like Brooke 3, when you're offered a huge yacht. When Conor was young he was hungry, now he has everything he's not. I used to want to, so I do not know how it will end. "
White said he did not speak to McGregor after the fight, "but in a few hours he will probably bombard me with messages about the millions of things he wants to do."
At the end of the fight Fourier referred to the possibility that his next opponent would be Habib Normgomedov, although it claimed to have hung up the gauntlet.
"I talked to Habib," White revealed, "and he said to me, 'Dana, be real with yourself, I'm above these guys on so many levels. I'd already beaten them.' It did not sound very positive, but it seems. Habib retired, I'm the one trying to persuade him to come back one more time. "
