Conor McGregor had no chance against Dustin Poirier in the end

Conor McGregor suffered a clear defeat on his comeback to the Octagon of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

In Abu Dhabi, the US-American Dustin Poirier defeated him in the second round with a knockout »It's really hard to deal with.

I just want to go back to the hotel and hang out with my kids, ”McGregor said.

McGregor and Poirier had already fought each other in September 2014, at that time McGregor won by technical knockout. The 32-year-old had announced his retirement several times in the past, but he had returned again and again.

Who will be Nurmagomedov's successor?

After the fight against Poirier, McGregor was supposed to become the challenger to the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov.

UFC President Dana White had previously made no secret of the fact that he would force a lucrative fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor.

Nothing will come of it now.

White said after the McGregor fight that it didn't look like Nurmagomedov's comeback right now.

“Dana, be honest with yourself. I'm so much better than these guys.

I beat these guys, ”Nurmagomedov told him.

With Nurmagomedov's resignation, the UFC lightweight title is vacant.

After beating McGregor, Poirier is now next to Michael Chandler as a possible candidate for the successor.

Nurmagomedov is considered one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history and, alongside McGregor, a superstar of the sport.

The Russian announced his resignation after a fight last October.

After the death of his father, he had promised his mother this, Nurmagomedov said at the time.
