Barcelona is suffering from an accumulated debt crisis that exceeded one billion euros at the end of last year, which caused the suspension of the Catalan club's progress in terms of results due to its inability to sign new deals.
According to a report by the Spanish Radio Cadena Cup, Barcelona's debts in 2020 amounted to 1 billion and 173 million euros, an increase of 15.3 percent over the year 2019, of which 730 million euros are short-term loans due soon.
The report indicated that Barcelona owes 196 million euros to other clubs in the players' transfer market, including 40 million euros to Liverpool for the purchase of Philippe Coutinho and 48 million euros to the Dutch team Ajax in exchange for the purchase of Frenkie de Young in addition to 5 million euros to Atletico Madrid in exchange for preferential rights to buy players. Requests to pay 266 million euros before June 30, 2021, which prompted the club to try to obtain a loan of 100 million euros to fill the treasury deficit, which amounts to 602 million euros.
The Barcelona administration plans to win 56 million euros through a plan to bring the fans back 25 percent in February and 50 percent in May.
Barcelona ranks third in the Spanish Premier League table during the current season with 37 points, behind Real Madrid, the three-point leader, and Atletico Madrid, the leaders with 10 points, after 19 rounds of the League's lifetime.
