Update from January 24th, 11.55 a.m.:
The Swiss
Beat Feuz
will win the Streif downhill and repeat his success from Friday.
The following drivers will probably have no chance in the battle for the fastest time.
The DSV aces
Romed Baumann
, currently fifth, and
Andreas Sander
, currently sixth, round off a strong weekend from a German perspective.
35 - Felix Monsen:
The only Swede in the field narrowly avoids a fall and misses the line.
His run is not counted.
34 - Stefan Rogentin:
The Swiss clearly lacks speed - 18th place.
33 - Manuel Schmid:
The German shows a decent drive, but in the end it is almost three seconds behind.
32 - Henrik Roea:
The Norwegian drives completely
carefree
and displaces Dominik Schwaiger from 14th place. Pure joy at the finish!
31 - Gilles Roulin:
The Frenchman is making a good run and is only one second behind on the local mountain.
But Roulin can't keep up the pace, in the end it's two seconds.
30 - Daniel Danklmaier:
The Austrian shows a good run, but does not come out of the traverse with the necessary speed.
The Germans Romed Baumann and Andreas Sander are still on a strong fifth and sixth place.
29 - Ralph Weber:
The Swiss tried everything, but in the end he crossed the finish line a long way behind - 26th.
28 - Brice Roger:
The Frenchman is too timid in the corners.
After an intermediate jump he almost slips away - rank 20.
27 - Nicolas Raffort:
The Frenchman takes 18th place.
26 - Hannes Reichelt:
The Austrian cannot meet his expectations of himself - 20th place.
25 - Dominik Schwaiger:
The DSV driver was twelfth on Friday and is now in the lead after the first intermediate time.
What's up on the local mountain?
Schwaiger shows a strong race and takes 13th place.
That could bring him the World Cup ticket.
24 - Adrien Theaux:
That was close!
The Frenchman almost crashes into the net after exiting a corner and can just avert the impact - penultimate.
23 - Emanuele Buzzi:
The Italian lacks the timing.
All in all, there are too many mistakes for Buzzi.
22 - Matteo Marsaglia:
The Italian has no chance and crosses the finish line a long way behind.
21 - Josef Ferstl:
The next DSV ace!
Ferstl won the Super-G in Kitzbühel in 2019.
What's going on in the descent?
Ouch, he almost loses his ski, but Ferstl can just take countermeasures.
Let's go, Pepi!
No, in the end there are too many mistakes - only 19th place. Tomorrow in the Super-G his chance comes.
20 - Matthieu Bailet:
The Frenchman comes very close to the leader.
His ride is a feast for the eyes, then he makes a small technical error.
The man from Nice only crossed the finish line in ninth place after his ride in hell.
19 - Otmar Striedinger:
The Austrian was third in Kitzbühel two years ago.
What is he doing today?
The gap is not too big after the first split times.
Striedinger drives a tight line - eighth place.
Since he is annoyed at the finish, the podium was there.
18 - Bryce Bennett:
The US-American falls too far behind and brakes after a jump landing.
17 - Carlo Janka:
The next Swiss cannot get the speed out on the track and is almost at the end of the field.
16 - Marco Odermatt:
The Swiss driver shows a technically demanding ride and hardly makes any mistakes.
But he cannot endanger his compatriot Feuz - eighth place.
15 - Vincent Krichmayer:
The top favorite tries everything, but the gap is getting bigger - tenth place.
14 - Max Franz:
The Austrian makes too many mistakes, the time lost is too great.
13 - Matthias Mayer:
The overall World Cup leader is at the start.
The Austrian can crack Feuz's time - that will be a very tight number.
No, in the end it is only enough for third place.
What a finish!
Feuz just drove sensationally in the lower part, could anyone else catch the Swiss?
Next come two more Austrians.
12 - Jared Goldberg:
The US-American lacks the pace right from the start and is more and more behind.
The view in the lower section is now also very limited.
11 - Dominik Paris:
The third placed on Friday is well in the race, the gap is not too big.
But the Italian loses significantly on the local mountain - sixth place.
The Germans Baumann and Sander are still in fifth and sixth place - that will probably be another good team result.
10:54 am:
Andreas Sander said in an interview on ZDF that he was not "as relaxed" as last and looks for the mistakes in himself.
10 - Nils Allegre:
The Frenchman cannot nearly attack the top ranks - seventh place.
Streif 2021 NOW in the live ticker: Swiss ousts DSV ace in Kitzbühel from the top
9 - Beat Feuz: It goes on. Now the winner from Friday is released. The Swiss lose a lot of time on the long flat stretch. Bit by bit he nibbles off the lead at high speed and just takes the lead. What a final spurt!
10:41 am:
In the meantime it has become very foggy, the view is badly restricted.
The race management does not want to take any risks and interrupts the competition.
Hopefully it can go on right away.
8 - Andreas Sander: Now it's time! Sander gets through the mousetrap well and is now just in the lead. Then a few small mistakes creep in, but the technical passages in the lower part suit him. In the end, it was only enough for fourth place, just behind Baumann. Pity!
7 - Kjetil Jansrud:
The Norwegian is not in top form.
Jansrud doesn't drive with his visor open - sixth place.
6 - Christof Innerhofer:
Fog sets in.
After taking the lead, Innerhofer is clearly behind, but the Italian is just ahead of Baumann.
Too bad.
5 - Johan Clarey:
The Frenchman manages an absolute dream run.
Clarey makes an announcement and takes the lead.
4 - Martin Cater:
The Slovenian drives cautiously and takes a big pack straight away - more than three seconds behind.
Any mistake on this demanding track will simply be punished immediately.
Streif 2021 NOW in the live ticker: DSV-Ace in Kitzbühel with first announcement
3 - Romed Baumann: The first German makes a dream start and is half a second ahead. Then he loses pace a bit, but he easily takes the lead over the finish line. This is going well!
2 - Travis Ganong:
The American chooses a tight line in the traverse and builds up speed - new best time.
Car number 1 - Maxence Muzaton:
The conditions are a little worse than in the early morning, but the visibility is still good.
The slope is very rough.
The Frenchman slips badly and loses a lot of time.
The first guideline time is set.
Let's see how long it will last.
10.19 a.m.:
It's about the golden chamois.
The Streif descent starts!
10.16 a.m.:
The weather looks good and the slope is in
great shape
.
Andreas Sander
is looking forward to the Streif descent.
“Sensational, the cold snap.
The cold ice makes it much easier to grip.
That's how we wish it.
I am expecting a very
nice and exciting descent,
”said the DSV ace on ZDF before the race.
Update from January 24th, 10:10 am:
The tension is increasing.
The
Hahnenkamm race
usually electrifies the masses.
This time the spectacle has to do without spectators and high celebrities.
Nevertheless, we can look forward to racing downhill riders.
Hopefully everything will go well.
The Germans are also in good shape, is there even a DSV ace climbing the podium today?
We're about to start!
Streif 2021 in the live ticker today: Will DSV ace Sander succeed in the next coup at the Hahnenkamm race?
Update from January 24th, 9:20 a.m.:
It's slowly starting to tingle!
The long wait will end in an hour.
The season highlight with the
Hahnenkamm race
on the legendary
Streif
is imminent.
First, let's take a look at the
start list
.
The Frenchman Maxence Muzaton will be the first to plunge down the slope.
After the US-American Travis Ganong,
Romed Baumann is
the first German to
come as the third starter
, and
Andreas Sander will
attack as the eighth driver
.
With
Josef Ferstl
(start number 21) and
Dominik Schwaiger
(25), two more DSV aces will be at the start.
Then comes
Beat Feuz
, who won the race on Friday.

(car number 11),
Matthias Mayer
(13) and

Streif 2021 in the live ticker today: Men's Hahnenkamm downhill on Sunday
Update from January 24th, 8:50 am:
Today the time has finally come!
The
Hahnenkamm race
is said to be one day late.
Due to bad weather, the World Cup downhill run on the Streif in Kitzbühel was canceled on Saturday and postponed to Sunday (start: 10:20 am).
Rain in the lower section of the route had too much damage to the slope on the legendary route, the organizers said.
“I would have liked to drive, but of course only in good conditions.
When you're in a good mood, of course you want that, ”said
Andreas Sander
, who was the best German in fifth place on the first descent in Kitzbühel on Friday.
The rejection is "right" and "not a broken leg" for him.
Men's national coach
Christian Schwaiger also
spoke of a “sensible decision”.
His team will now use the day to regenerate and do some fitness training.
On Friday the race was stopped after 30 starters and several compulsory breaks due to poor visibility and sometimes dangerous winds.
The victory went to the Swiss
Beat Feuz
.
The Germans were convincing and all ended up in the top 13:
Romed Baumann was
eighth
behind Sander
,
Dominik Schwaiger
raced to twelfth place despite the high start number, one place ahead of
Josef Ferstl
.
Streif 2021 in the live ticker today: Men's Hahnenkamm downhill on Sunday
First report
: Kitzbühel - this is
certainly not
how you imagined the
Streif
!
In 2021
everything will be different
in
Kitzbühel
.
It should actually be three races on the Hahnenkamm - a dream for fans of alpine skiing, of course.
Friday also started properly, the Swiss
Feat Beuz
chiseled a fable run into the slope.
But then the falls began.
With fellow favorite
Ryan Cochran-Siegle
it was still relatively light.
Not
with
Urs Kryenbühl
.
His bad fall, in which he seriously injured his knee, overshadowed the race.
In the end it was even canceled - the wind had made safe descents impossible.
Streif 2021 in the live ticker: Departure now on Sunday, Super-G on Monday
The actual
Hahnenkamm race
should then
continue on
Saturday
.
The run on Friday was “only” the replacement World Cup for the
Lauberhorn downhill run in Wengen
.
But the highlight of the skiing winter was canceled without further ado.
Rain had softened the lower part of the slope, the legendary
Saturday Streif
could not take place.
New approaches are needed - and hopefully they will hold!
The organizers are
now
planning the
departure for Sunday morning
(10.20 a.m.).
The
Super-G, which is
actually planned for this point in time,
is moving to Monday
(10:45 a.m.).
Whatever happens - we are there in the
live ticker
and accompany the two races in
Kitzbühel
.
