The HSG Würm-Mitte can plan the third division and youth division for another year.

Everything points to an end to the season for women.

The youth are still hoping.

Würmtal - Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, the motto in many areas has been: "We drive on sight." This also poses problems for sports clubs and associations.

The gradual extension of lockdown measures since autumn 2020 has always been accompanied by the postponement of game dates and a steadily growing uncertainty of all those involved.

HSG Würm-Mitte will probably be in the 3rd League South next year

For the handball players at HSG Würm-Mitte, the situation of the third division team and the A-Juniors, who are competing in the youth division for the first time this season (JBLH), is particularly relevant.

The situation in both competitions, in which the game is suspended until February 28, has been discussed in detail in several video conferences with representatives of the German Handball Federation (DHB) over the past few weeks.

“We maintain the dialogue with the clubs.

However, decisions to resume gaming cannot yet be made, ”said Benjamin Chatton, who is responsible for gaming operations as Chief Financial Officer, recently quoted in a press release.

It is already clear: there is a very high probability that HSG Würm-Mitte will also compete in the 3rd League South in the 2021/22 season.

The A-Juniors have a place in the JBLH again.

The decisive factor for this was reaching the intermediate round and thus making it among the best 16 teams in Germany.

“This gives us planning security for the women's and youth areas.

This is very good news for us, ”says Miriam Hirsch, who as a youth coach and active first team player affects both areas directly.

Signs are pointing to demolition, the final decision will probably be in early February

She reports of very constructive discussions between association and club representatives.

Both sides had come to the realization that even a third division season that was only half played was hardly feasible and a fair determination of relegated players was almost impossible.

A final decision is not expected until the beginning of February.

But the signs are clearly on the end of the season.

An important point is equal opportunities.

Many teams in JBLH and the third league, including the Würmtaler Wildcats, are allowed to train with a special permit, but many are not.

"Some clubs have not been able to go into the hall for ten weeks, and the association does not want to disadvantage these teams," says Hirsch.

Since the teams should be given a lead time of at least four weeks before a restart, the time to end the season will probably be too short - even if the amateur sports ban should be lifted across the board on February 14th.

DHB still wants to play promoted players in the 2nd Bundesliga

The DHB would like to play off newcomers to the 2nd Bundesliga if possible, but this does not affect the promoted team from the Würmtal who started the season with three defeats.

At most, one additional competition currently being discussed in May would be relevant for the HSG, although it should not have the character of a competitive game.

In the meantime, the third division women have also stopped indoor training.

In the youth league, however, the DHB still hopes to end the season.

The remaining two rounds could be played on two final weekends in April or May, including comprehensive corona tests for all participants.

Würm-Mittes A-Juniors, the Young Wildcats, currently train once a week in small groups.

Würm-Mitte intensifies planning - and is looking for new talent for young people

Hirsch gives the DHB a lot of praise for the communication and management of the exceptional situation.

She emphasizes: “The Zoom meetings were very cooperative.

Those responsible see the situation very realistically. "

The HSG Würm-Mitte is now intensifying its planning for the coming season.

One would like to position oneself even more professionally, especially in the female junior segment.

The developed concept will be presented to interested external players, parents and coaches on Friday from 6 p.m. in a zoom meeting;

Registration is required by e-mail to projectjugendbundesliga@yahoo.com or by Whatsapp message on 0157/75 77 18 60.
