Tanja Schlosser from MSC Freisinger Bär can look back on a successful career at the age of 18.

Since a serious racing accident she has been driving “two tracks”.

Wolfersdorf

- She is the all-rounder in the ranks of the top German motocross riders: Tanja Schlosser (18), who has been racing for the MSC Freisinger Bär for two years, has her love for the German Cross Country Series (GCC) after a bad fall and discovered for enduro riding.

With great success: despite a fracture of the humerus head in 2018, she won the runner-up title in cross-country that same year and even the championship in the women's class one season later.

But that's not all: In 2020 the reigning GCC champion dared to jump into the Supercross class and won the title “Supercross Queen of Kiel” in the hall.

The motorsport athlete who lives in Unterhaindlfing is currently clearly focusing on the enduro sector.

From the bike with supports directly to the children's motorcycle

It is no coincidence that Tanja Schlosser has petrol in her blood.

Father Peter (53) is a passionate motorcyclist, BMW fan and automotive vocational school teacher in Freising, and mother Monika (52) trained as a mechanical engineer.

It is not for nothing that a vintage motorcycle sits enthroned above the entrance door of the locksmith's house.

So it's no wonder that the daughters Tanja and Nina (20) followed in their parents' footsteps, i.e. in the footrests.

Both discovered their love for motocross at a young age.

When they were three and four years old, they dropped the supports on their bicycles - and immediately switched to their first children's motorcycles.

From then on they made the area unsafe.

In the case of Tanja, this meant that she explored her talent in the surrounding meadows with her Yamaha PW50 - and not too narrowly.

Both still ride motocross today, they trained like crazy.

First at MSC Eichenried, where Peter Schlosser is youth leader to this day, and later on the training grounds of the MSC Freisinger Bär at the airport.

Nina drives more for the fun of Freud, Tanja, however, developed the ambition to belong to the best of the best.

A number of top positions in various categories testify that she succeeded in this.

Tanja was soon one of the best in the class up to 250 cubic centimeters

A development that was not necessarily foreseeable when Tanja contested her first motocross race at the age of six.

She remembers it very well: “I was twelfth of 13 participants.

So not the last one, that was really great, ”said the 18-year-old, commenting on her entry into the racing circuit at the time.

At 16 things looked completely different - Tanja won the men's category with her 125 cubic machine: She was the only young woman in the 2018 Chiemgau Cross Cup - mind you in the class up to 250 cubic centimeters.

The success story continued.

In the said class up to 250 cubic centimeters she was soon one of the best, and her career took off.

In the meantime, one was constantly on the move on the weekends, in the motorhome, with a mobile workshop, to the racetracks across the country.

In 2018, however, there was also a setback: During a race, the track was frozen, Tanja got into a groove on the side, fell - and broke the head of her humerus.

“I can't remember most of it,” she says, adding that she only came to in the hospital.

From today's perspective, however, she also says: “Pain will go away.” However, the desire to race never faded.

“I soon felt like it again - definitely”, assures Schlosser.

But there was also its good side.

"Somehow I'm also happy about the fall," sums up the young woman who discovered the enduro sport for herself after a break: She found out that the long distance, usually between 80 to 100 kilometers per day, is her thing Perseverance is helpful.

In addition, the fact that you don't know the slopes in this class and always have to expect surprises gave her a special incentive.

Her successes did not go unnoticed: “Important people noticed me,” says Tanja Schlosser.

Sponsors have signed up, with whose help it went to Chile for the International Six Days of Enduro - an absolute highlight for the young rider.

After all, she was one of three German women who had the pleasure of taking part in this big event.

And suddenly, as a 16-year-old, she was confronted with road traffic in South America.

She almost "got lost" in the process.

She had missed the exit of a motorway junction - and found it difficult to get back on track.

It's all about the mix of fun and success

Where should the journey go now?

For Tanja Schlosser, that's as clear as day.

She wants to "drive in two directions", as she explains.

So motocross and enduro.

"Now I just want to have fun with both and learn something," says the German Cross Country Champion 2019. She prefers to go to Austria and Northern Germany.

From their point of view, this is where the more attractive races take place.

She has fond memories of the Alpine republic.

In 2020 she won two out of four races there at the Austrian Enduro Cup.

Nevertheless, a professional career is unlikely.

Women's motocross and enduro sports are not popular enough in this country.

Tanja's goal is to get reasonable sports funding.

Her desire to go to the police could perhaps be linked to her sporting ambitions.

Otherwise, she plans to study next year.

“Something technical,” she reveals.

What else, with these genes and talent.
