Now there will be a comparison on Wednesday.

Peiting - Actually, the year 2020 should have come to an end for EC Peiting in the Oberliga Süd with two duels with Deggendorfer SC.

After some of the DEL2 relegated players were in quarantine at the time, the two games had to be canceled.

Almost a month later, the first of two catch-up games against the Deggendorf team will be played on Wednesday evening in Peiting (7.30 p.m.).

In Lower Bavaria, things are not going as planned this season.

The completely newly formed team of the DSC did not quite get into gear under their new coach Henry Thom, who came from league rival Selb.

A longer injury break for striker and ex-national player Thomas Greilinger did the rest that the Deggendorfer fell far short of expectations and suddenly found themselves in the table cellar of the Oberliga Süd.

But things have been going better since Greilinger returned a few weeks ago.

The DSC won three of the last four games.

At Deggendorf, Thomas Greilinger is back on board

Thereby he overtook the ECP in the table.

In sixth place, Lower Bavaria has only a very thin lead over the Peitinger team in terms of the points quotient, who got back on track two days later after the defensive debacle against Weiden with nine goals conceded in the 3-1 win against SC Riessersee.

"If we defend as well as we did against the SCR, we don't have a chance," says ECP coach Sebastian Buchwieser, who wants his team to have a similarly stable defensive performance against Deggendorf as during the guest appearance under the Alpspitze.

"Although Deggendorf, which has one of the strongest individual players in the league, is the clear favorite," Buchwieser does not forget to mention.

With the exception of Alex Winkler, who had to pass due to muscular problems after his comeback last Sunday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Peitinger trainer can offer his current best line-up.

The statistics speak rather against the Peitinger, as in the last six comparisons with Deggendorf the away team has won - and this time the Peitinger enjoy home rights.

But Buchwieser is not really impressed by such number games: "Then it's time to end this series."
