Less than two months before the first match of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Denmark draws a lot of encouragement from the goal scored yesterday (Tuesday) by Christian Eriksen in the Milan derby.
The Danish midfielder did come in as a substitute in extra time in the cup game, but gave Inter a dramatic 1: 2 in the 97th minute with a perfect free kick.
The Danish team has long been dealing with the limited credit that Eriksen receives in the Narazuri uniform and hopes that the goal will give him confidence and make a difference.
"The Danish team needs Eriksen and Eriksen needs the Denmark team," wrote Fleming Toft, a senior sports journalist in the Scandinavian country. "Antonio Conte said he believes in him and now we will have to wait and hope he gets more minutes. Eriksen needs people around him who believe in him."

Despite quite a bit of talk of Eriksen moving to Paris Saint-Germain or back to England, the Dane is still at Inter and Conte said yesterday he has no plans to sell him and intends to give him more minutes to play.
The Danish media added in this regard: "If Conte's things hold water, Eriksen will smile again and then also national team coach Caspar Yolmand will be able to smile."
The 28-year-old Eriksen has been a key figure for Denmark in recent years.
He has worn the media 103 times, scored 36 goals and there is no doubt that he is the most important player of the red team.
"Of course one goal does not determine the future, but maybe it will help Eriksen cross the psychological barrier he has experienced at Inter in recent months," they added.
Denmark will play in the sixth house of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers together with Israel, Austria, Scotland, the Faroe Islands and Moldova.
Her first game of the campaign will be against Willie Rotensteiner and his players, at Bloomfield Stadium on March 25.
