The first phone call made by Luis Hernandez after he decided that the offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv fascinated him was to Jose Rodriguez.
The Maccabi Haifa contact was not surprised.
Like both, there are already quite a few alumni of the Real Madrid youth department who did not find themselves in the luxury club and rolled up to the league in Israel.
Rodriguez was already a Maccabi Haifa player at the time and for his acquaintance with Maccabi Tel Aviv from the time he was in Kiryat Shalom, Hernandez knew well.

Hernandez landed in Israel at a very late stage.

Just as he is quiet and comfortable on the grass, he is also introverted in life off the field.
On all the trips to the games in Europe, he was collected on his affairs and did not seek to stand out.
His English is good, probably in relation to Jair Amador and Enrique Saborit who did not know a word when they landed here two and a half years ago, but even this advantage did not make Hernandez quickly assimilate into the gang.
With Donis he did not take advantage of his foreign spending weapon.
The Greek preferred that he be in the open and not mess with balls that needed to be put in.
Van Leven is actually asking him for the long foreign expenses, perhaps because the Dutch style of play is based on the wings and the balls of Hernandez from the outside line, are supposed to give Maccabi Tel Aviv the same element.

Luis Hernandez will play a key role in the game.
Most of all, he wants to finish the one game after which they will stop putting a question mark over him and especially they will stop talking about him and remember other Spanish brakemen who left their mark on Maccabi Tel Aviv.
