He hit, flew and lost: Zlatan Ibrahimović was the focus of a spectacular Milan derby between the top two teams in Serie A, AC and Inter, in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
Initially, the Rossoneri first took the lead through Zlatan Ibrahimović (31st minute).
The Swede hit the left inside post from a half-right position, from where the ball bounced into the goal.
Shortly before the break, there was a long battle of words between the veteran AC Milan and Inter's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
Both players saw the yellow card.
One with consequences for Ibrahimović: In the 58th minute he was cautioned again after a tactical foul in midfield - the match was over for him with a yellow-red.
From the stands, he had to watch as his opponent from the first round equalized: Lukaku converted a penalty in the 71st minute to equalize.
Because there was an injury-related change of referee, the game got a ten-minute look-up, which Inter used to score the winning goal before extra time: Dane Christian Eriksen used a free kick with a placed shot over the wall into the left corner to make it 2-1 for Inter (90 . + 7).
In the semifinals, Antonio Conte's team - without Lukaku, who was suspended from yellow, will now face the winner of the match between Juventus and second division AC Spal Ferrara (Wednesday, 8.45 p.m.).
In the other quarter-finals, Atalanta will face German national player Robin Gosens and Lazio Rome on Wednesday (5.45 p.m.) and SSC Napoli and Spezia Calcio on Thursday (9 p.m.)
