French Cup and curfew: the puzzle of exemptions

2021-01-28T07:13:32.014Z

Some teams competing for the 6th round were able to train in the evening this week despite the curfew at 6 p.m., thanks to a waiver

How to prepare as best as possible to play his 6th round of the Coupe de Franc e next weekend?

This question is a real headache for all amateur clubs still in the running.

The resumption of the Coupe de France announced eight days ago leaves too little time for the players to regain a suitable physical condition for an official meeting.

The 6 p.m. curfew and licensees who, overwhelmingly, work during the day make it difficult for teams to find training sessions.

Some have even decided to withdraw, such as FC Flers, Tourcoing and Illkirch.

Coupe de France: a recovery with the clubs that raises questions

In recent days, more and more clubs have, however, been able to obtain exemptions to train after 6 p.m. from the prefects.

If the Ministry of Sports has not, despite the resumption of the Coupe de France, not received from the government the authorization to issue exemptions for the curfew, each prefect can, on the other hand, derogate from the law on a case by case basis. and validate these authorizations.

The prefect of Maine-et-Loire has, thus, granted to the clubs of Angers NDC (R1) and Saumur (N3).

That of Jura did the same with the club of Jura Sud (N2) and Jura Dolois (N3).

In Ile-de-France, the prefectures do not all have the same opinion.

That of Essonne refused a derogation to Linas-Montlhéry (N3) who faces Lusitanos Saint-Maur (N2) on Sunday.

On the other hand, his counterpart in Val-d'Oise authorized, this Tuesday, Saint-Brice (R1) to be able to train after 6 p.m.

“It was complicated to redo trainings like last week in the middle of the afternoon with barely 40% of my squad, says Jérémy Bayle, the co-trainer of Saint-Brice.

After that, we know there will be breakage on match day with only nine days of preparation.

The risk of injury is obvious.

"

Trainings at… 6.30am

The only Yvelines club still present in the competition, FC Conflans made a request at the end of last week but is still awaiting the answer.

“There are only 19 Ile-de-France clubs still in the running.

We could have granted a derogation to everyone, thinks President Christine Pereira.

We did a few sessions during the day with part of the team plus a full training session last Saturday.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the next day because of the snow.

"

JA Drancy (N3), accustomed to achieving good results in this event for ten years, with in particular two participations in a round of 16 in 2011 and 2012, against Nice then GFCO Ajaccio, trained last Friday at the start afternoon with his 12 students, then the next day with the 27 players in the workforce.

And since nothing.

"I was not aware of the possibility of obtaining a waiver, but I will discuss it with my president to do it next week if we manage to qualify for the 7th round," said coach Philippe Lemaître.

"This is not the real Coupe de France"

In Villejuif (R2), two training sessions have been scheduled this week Tuesday and Thursday at… 6.30 am!

“It was our only solution to have sessions before our match on Sunday against Sénart-Moissy (R1), explains President Youssef Mountabih.

Our 25 players have responded, they are motivated by the prospect of this meeting.

We did not request an exemption because it is complicated and we had already arranged with the city's sports department so that it can open the stadium very early for these two sessions.

Finally, some clubs have admitted to violating the curfew schedule slightly to go to train at the end of the day.

“How do you want to play a Coupe de France match with great intensity without training?

wonders a member of a staff of a Ile-de-France club.

We still prefer to collect a fine than not to train at all and, perhaps, to deplore a serious injury or a tragedy on the field on Sunday.
