When talking about Scotty Wilbkin, it is customary to focus mainly on the offensive abilities of one of the best scorers on the continent, but on the Euroleague website today (Thursday) the spotlight was actually on the defensive abilities of the Maccabi Tel Aviv star.
"Scotty is a very good attacking player, but I don't think he is treated well enough on defense," said Elijah Bryant.
"Sometimes he presses all over the field and keeps the best players in the rivalry. He bothers, he annoys the opponents. He is a very dynamic player who helps us both on offense and defense."
Wilbkin is ranked third in the Euroleague this season in steals per game - he has 1.36 of those, with only Lorenzo Brown (1.55) and Priya Henry (1.95) ahead of him.
"I'm proud of my defense," he said.
"The coach pushes us, he wants us to be focused and work very hard on defense so I try to do my best. The steals I get are mostly thanks to instincts and thanks to our preparations in the video, I try to read the game. It can lift the team when it's not really matters, and make everyone feel Good and enthusiastic for the next pose. "
The American coordinator gave some of the credit to his coach and said: "Yannis Sapropoulos has helped me a lot to improve, in my confidence, tactics, and maintain a high level. There are a lot of big scorers in the Euroleague, and every year the level just goes up and up, so have to concentrate on both sides.

Sapropolos himself complimented back: "Scotty is our leader, he has proven many times that he is capable of leading us. Obviously I want to improve his game, he can be better. He is young and competes at the highest levels in Europe. I think he tries very hard on defense "It's hard for some players who are so involved in attack to invest in defense as well, but he pushes himself and learns how to do it."
