Julia Metzner will comment on the European Championship final

The finals of the European Football Championship in summer and the World Cup next year in Qatar will each be commented on by a woman on the radio.
This was announced by the first.

It is already certain that Julia Metzner from SWR will comment on the final of the EURO, the personnel for the World Cup final in 2022 is still open.

The decision to cast the World Cup final was apparently initiated by Sabine Töpperwien, who announced her departure after more than three decades in front of the WDR microphone a week ago.
"With her quote that she will probably never see a woman commenting on a World Cup in the final, she got the ball rolling for us bosses," Weber said.
Töpperwien was “overwhelmed and speechless” from the latest development.
"I am very happy for my successors that they are now given such an opportunity twice," she said.
