The French team comes to the end of its first week of internship in Nice where it lives in a hermetic sanitary bubble as confirmed

The training days are linked in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) for the XV of France.

In a week, this will already be the first match of the Six Nations Tournament against Italy and the men of coach Fabien Galthié have learned to manage the health bubble put in place around them to protect them as much as possible from Covid-19.

Contact cases among the Toulouse residents of the group revealed this week recalled that it was necessary to be extra vigilant.

"We take no risk", concedes the 2nd row of Montpellier Paul Willemse who also explains that he and his teammates do not leave their hotel except to go to training.

With the exception of one outing this week to support the nursing staff of the CHU de Nice.

“We are tested several times a week,” explains Bordeaux's Cameron Woki.

We know if players have symptoms or not.

All Toulouse residents have tested negative.

We will see what we can control.

The Covid cannot be (controlled).

Playing is the most important thing.

"

"We devote the little free time we have to rest"

Around the Blues as with all the selections of the Tournament, the conditions are drastic: exits prohibited, training behind closed doors and press conference in video.

A health status quo that could weigh in the long term but for the moment well accepted by the players as evidenced by Woki.

“We are in Nice to prepare for the Tournament, not to visit the city.

It does not bother me.

We were provided with a games room for entertainment.

We take care as we can.

Some play cards, others play board games or just chat with each other.

The workload remains important and we devote the little free time we have to rest and care.

Why the referee Jérôme Garcès joined the XV of France

In the middle of the day, the federation and the League jointly announced that they had reached an agreement to restrict the Blues training group to 31 members.

An agreement which was in the pipeline in order to limit "the risks associated with the movements of players entering and leaving the group of the XV of France during the period of the Six Nations Tournament".

A limitation of the number of internationals available to the staff which goes against the initial wishes of Fabien Galthié.

But the health situation has forced the coach to be realistic.

The main consequence of the agreement is to freeze the group without keeping 40 players under pressure and eager to win their place as holders.

Participants in the Nice camp are therefore assured of preparing for the match against Italy without risking returning to their club during the week.

The previous amendment, signed on January 4, offered coach Fabien Galthié the possibility of soliciting up to 37 selectable players as well as 5 training partners.

From 42 players initially convened in Nice, for the training camp, the group was reduced Thursday to 28 players.
