Just before his first real test against Olympiacos, Oded Katash shows positive signs on the lines of Panathinaikos.
Last night (Friday), the Israeli coach marched Pao to a second Euroleague victory under his baton, with a convincing 72:91 over Valencia in Ouaka.
After the game, he complimented Valencia coach Valencia Gioma Ponsernau.
"I know Katsch's philosophy and method well, but I did not expect his players to internalize it so quickly. I was not surprised by Katsch's style, but by the personal ability of Pau's players, who looked amazing. Tactically, they were perfectly prepared for us."
The Greek media also praised Katsch.
"He simplified the game for PAO players. He gave them some simple defensive rules, thus stabilizing the defense," SPORT24 noted.
"Pao has not in one day gone from a terrible defensive team to a team that everyone is afraid of, but thanks to Katsch, she understands better what she wants from herself."

Pao players seem to be starting to internalize Katsch's offensive method as well, which includes extensive use of pick and roll and ensures maximum clearance on the floor.
"Pau players have been sharing the ball much better since Katsch joined. It's probably not a coincidence," SDNA wrote.
Katsch himself said, "I'm very happy with how the players executed our game plan. For us, it all starts with defense. Once we made stops and controlled the rebound, we made a lot of easy baskets in bursts and passing attacks. A large portion of the 91 points we scored came thanks to defense."
