Hamburger SV has defended its four point lead on the relegation place.
HSV won 3: 1 (2: 1) against SC Paderborn on matchday 19 and now remains the table leader of the 2nd Bundesliga with 40 points.
Hamburg celebrated for the first time after eight minutes: Simon Terodde extended a corner kick to the far post and Moritz Heyer headed for the lead.
The second goal was also scored by default.
Sonny Kittel shot a free kick from 25 meters into the bottom left of the goal (22nd), the Paderborn wall didn't look good.
Shortly before the break, Paderborn made the connection.
HSV goalkeeper Sven Ulreich blocked a shot with his foot, Sven Michel converted the rebound to 2: 1 (41st).
In the first leg, Hamburg had also led 2-0 in the meantime, but fell 2: 3 behind before turning the game around again and winning 4: 3.
This time, however, HSV learned from their mistakes and did not give up the lead.
After a combination over Terodde and Dudziak, Kittel scored the 3: 1 (53rd).
After that, HSV remained sovereign and victory was no longer in danger.
Holstein Kiel waited in vain for a draw or a defeat for HSV, but kept the gap to the table leaders constant at four points.
Kiel won 3: 1 (3: 0) against Braunschweig and remains third behind Hamburg and VfL Bochum with 36 points.
Kiel took the lead in the fourth minute.
At the end of a counterattack, Fabian Reese scored 1-0 with a shot from 25 yards.
Braunschweig found no answer to the deficit and Kiel increased the lead.
Fin Bartels headed a ball blocked by goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzić to make it 2-0 into the goal (28th).
Just three minutes later, Janni-Luca Serra headed the third goal from a corner kick (31st).
Braunschweig only got better into the game in the second half, when Yassin Ben Balla headed it to make it 3-1 (63rd).
But it wasn't enough to connect.
In the final phase, Braunschweig's Oumar Diakhité saw his second yellow card and had to leave the field (90th).
While goals were scored early in Hamburg and Kiel, the game in Regensburg remained quiet for a longer period of time.
After a counterattack, Tim Skarke took the lead for Darmstadt (30th).
Darmstadt had the upper hand for a long time in an even game.
But in the seventh minute of stoppage time Regensburg struck back: After a cross from the left, Kaan Caliskaner held out his foot and scored the 1-1.
After the draw, Regensburg in eleventh place and Darmstadt in twelfth place remain direct neighbors in the middle of the table for the time being.
