Despite the goalless draw on the score sheet, Arsenal FC and Manchester United had an entertaining exchange of blows.

The North Londoners in particular needed the first half to warm up: Bernd Leno steered a flick from Fred from 20 meters into the Gunners' goal with his fingertips into the side (20th minute).

On the other side, Nicolas Pépé only narrowly missed the long corner after numerous climbers (31st).

The greatest chance of the first half had United's Marcus Rashford, who received the ball in the penalty area in a promising position but took too long to decide on an action (43.).

So it went goalless into the break - from the Arsenal when the much more active team started the second 45 minutes.

But United had the first big chance again: A quick direct combination put the moved left-back Luke Shaw in the limelight.

His cross reached Edinson Cavani at the six-yard box, but the Uruguayan did not bring the ball on goal from close range (59th).

The next scenes belonged to Arsenal: First Alexandre Lacazette shot a free kick from 18 meters to the lower edge of the bar (65th), then Emile Smith Rowe failed from an acute angle to David de Gea in United's goal (66th).

Mikel Arteta joined the playmaker talent Martin Ødegaard, loaned from Real Madrid, late (83rd), but the Norwegian remained without a scene.

For this, Cavani appeared a second time five meters from the Arsenal goal, but his side pull after a cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka also missed (89th).

Manchester City has avoided the faux pas that Manchester United had made last: While the city rivals suffered a 2-1 defeat against Sheffield United on Wednesday, the Citizens prevailed 1-0 (1-0) at the bottom of the Premier League .

The victory was a historic one: For the first time in the club's history, Manchester City won twelve games in a row across all competitions.

However, it took a lot of work to make it so.

Although Pep Guardiola's team took the lead early on through a goal from Gabriel Jesus (9th), City could not pull away from the outsider from Sheffield.

The hosts' dominant possession game prevented at least greater chances of scoring for a long time.

In the 86th minute, City was lucky when a shot by John Fleck from 20 meters just missed the right post.

In the table, City remains ahead with 44 points.

They are followed by United with one more game and 41 points, while Leicester City (39 points) can move up to become the first pursuer with a win at Leeds United on Sunday.
