The EC Peiting did not have to shake tremendously in the home game against Passau on Sunday evening.
But the joy of the success was not unclouded.
Peiting
- The outcome of this game came as little surprise to those who studied the statistics.
So far, EC Peiting has hosted the EHF Black Hawks Passau ten times in the major league, and ten times it has kept the upper hand against Lower Bavaria.
Yesterday Sunday followed with the 4: 0 (0: 0, 2: 0, 2: 0) home win number eleven for the team of coach Sebastian Buchwieser.
As in the first appearance this season in Peiting, the Bayern League promoted from the city of three rivers failed to score again.
At the beginning of December, the Passau team even had to admit defeat 5-0.
Ice hockey: Dennis Neal has to go to hospital after a collision
The hosts' success, however, was bought at a high price: In the middle of the first third Dennis Neal collided so unhappily with a Passau resident that the ECP defender remained on the ice for minutes and could not leave it without outside help.
In the end he was driven to the hospital with the ambulance.
The game was initially interrupted before referee Bastian Haupt sent both teams into the third break.
In the ten minutes before that, the Peitinger, who had to do without Ty Morris again, could have taken the lead.
Less than two minutes had passed before Fabian Weyrich hit the post.
After that, the ECP defender was unlucky again when he shot the puck at the linkage of the Passau goal again (9th).
The guests from Lower Bavaria played quite nicely, but Peiting's goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder kept everything that came on his case.
Ice hockey: Defense of the EC Peiting is stable against Passau
When both teams came back on the ice after the forced break, the question arose: Did the Peitinger digest the shock of Neal's injury?
The answer was: more or less.
Although the hosts had an optical advantage, they weren't really compelling.
But what Coach Buchwieser should have been happy about: After his defense had allowed a lot of hits in their recent home appearances against Deggendorf (2: 7) and Weiden (8: 9), they were again very safe against Passau.
In the second third, the Peitinger were also decisive in the game, but without radiating great scoring danger.
But just in the phase when the Black Hawks were a little braver, the home side set the course for victory.
First Simon Simon Maier made it 1-0 (32nd) with a placed shot, only two minutes later Andreas Feuerecker sank the target to make it 2-0 in the far corner.
Both times, Thomas Heger had made an exemplary presentation with a precise cross pass.
Ice hockey: EC peiting ensures the decision against Passau at an early stage
Even at the beginning of the final third, the Peitinger put their stamp on the game.
Initially, Martin Hlozek was unlucky when he hit the post with a long-range shot (44th).
A few seconds later, Nardo Nagtzaam failed free-standing against keeper Clemens Ritschel.
After two Black Hawks players hindered each other, Nagtzaam only had to dust off to make it 3-0 (47th).
When Passau's goalkeeper Clemens Ritschel could not hold a shot by Nagtzaam and Daniel Reichert dusted off to make it 4-0 (53rd), this game was decided.
After that, the ECP shifted down a gear and gave the guests a few options.
Nevertheless, the home side's victory could have been even higher: In the final minute, first Reichert and then Maximilian Hüsken failed in a promising position.
